BlogA blog about algorithmic art and fractal aesthetic. Click here to subscribe to the RSS feed. October 30th 2011 Beyond InfinitySerge Salat's installation "Beyond Infinity" uses Menger sponges, together with mirrors, lights and other structures. This may well be the first appearance of fractals in top end art circles. Salat describes it as "a mystical journey, in which the visitor progresses into the reflected layers of dreams endlessly nested in each other". The visual complexity of fractals, which goes way beyond what a human mind can aprehend, and in some sense makes infinity concrete, can indeed provide a mystical experience. Apparently the installation has only been displayed in China as of now. I would love to have a closer look at it. More pictures and information can be found here.
